Real Moving Horror Stories: Part Two

The horror continues as we move closer to Halloween. Let’s look at more examples of terrifying moving experiences based on real user reviews we receive here atblood-18983_640 Movers.com. It really is important to find good movers, or you could be faced with a similarly nightmarish situation. Like last week, all the names of customers and companies have been omitted to avoid incurring any unholy wrath.

The Moving Strangers

Some moving companies are literally not who they appear to be. One customer met a moving representative and got a quote based on the weight of his shipment. But when it came time to move, a totally new “company” showed up at midnight after saying they’d be there at 4 pm. Apparently the customer’s move was brokered to an unknown company.

These devious characters were disturbingly using a rental truck, which is always a bad sign. They proceeded to come inside the customer’s home and started smoking. Who were these people? They claimed the load was too big and that the customer needed to pay more than double the original estimate. When the customer refused to pay that much, the mysterious movers would not lower their price and just disappeared into the night. The move was not done that day. A third company did do it, but the customer is still waiting to see his furniture to this day…

The Case of the Disappearing Xbox

When you pack something yourself, you have a pretty good idea of what the packaging for that item looks like. One customer packed his Xbox equipment himself for his move. When his belongings arrived at the destination, he noticed something strange about his Xbox box. After further examination, it appeared that something sharp had cut through the packing tape that was sealing the box. He was shocked to see that it was opened. What was inside? Nothing. He was delivered an empty box.

When he notified the moving company they talked about tracking it or where it could have been misplaced, but he knew better. He saw the telltale slice in the packing tape. This was something far more devious than an honestly misplaced item. Will he ever be able to game again? Somehow I doubt the missing equipment will turn up anytime soon.

The Bloody Mattress

Sometimes the damage left behind by bad movers is truly frightening. One customer was shocked to see the aftermath of a bad move in his home. It was like his house was haunted by an angry spirit. The dresser had been dragged across the floor. There were big gashes on the walls. But the most disturbing aspect of the move was that there was fresh blood on one of his mattresses. How did it get there? Did one of the movers cut himself, or is something far more sinister going on here?

Mover Kombat

Normally you are worried about the movers being antagonizing toward you and your family. But what about when they fight among themselves? This happened to a recent customer. Apparently one mover got the other off of Craigslist and there was some dispute about the pay. The threats between the men soon turned into a serous fight that spilled out onto the streets, thankfully away from the customer’s home.

In the end, just one mover remained and the customer’s boyfriend had to help him do the move. ¬†She was still charged for two laborers, though– a truly horrifying outcome.

Do you have your own moving horror story? Share it in the comments or in our review section. Remember to use all our resources to screen a bunch of moving companies before hiring one, or you could end up like these unfortunate souls.
