Cities With the Biggest Houses
If your house just isn’t big enough for you and you’re looking to start of 2012 by moving into one that can finally fit all of your belongings and/or family members, then I have a treat for you. Realtor.com has compiled a short list of the cities that have the biggest average home size in the U.S. Of course, a few of the cities on the list are not very surprising and I’m sure you could peg at least two of them off the top of your head without even really breaking a mental sweat.
Since I don’t want to leave you hanging, those two cities would be Beverly Hills, CA and Malibu, CA with average home sizes of 3,884 square feet, and 2,998 square feet, respectively. But before you jump in your car/moving truck and head for the Golden Coast, take note that the median house price of homes in these cities are lingering somewhere around the $2 million mark.
Now, if you’re looking for something a little bit more affordable, there are two other cities on this list that might be right up your alley. Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, GA round out the top four cities on this list with average home sizes of 2,237 square feet and 2,074 square feet, respectively. And, at around $379,000 for Washington, D.C. and a surprisingly low $149,000 for Atlanta, these homes are quite a bit more affordable than their west coast counterparts.
So, if you’re thinking about upgrading in 2012 and moving somewhere with a little more room to breathe, checking out these cities certainly wouldn’t hurt.
