Top Ten Ways to Celebrate the End of Your Move

When your move is finally over, you may want to take the time to celebrate. Here are some ideas for doing so:

1.     Go out to eat - This is a simple, but classic, way to celebrate. It’s also a great opportunity to go and try out some of the local cuisine or to find a cool café to become your new favorite haunt.

2.     Host a house warming party - This requires a little more planning, but hosting a house warming party has many great advantages. For example, it can be a good opportunity to meet some new friends, and you might even get a few new appliances or other things you need for your new place.

3.     Go to a play - This one might hinge on where it is you moved, but maybe there’s a cool playhouse you could check out.

4.     Go to the beach/lake - This is another one that depends on where you moved (and also on when), but what better way to kick back and relax?

5.     Museums and historical sites - You know how you never go to the touristy things near where you live because, well, “we can do that anytime”? Well, don’t let that happen to you. Go check out that stuff while it still holds interest.

6.     Go on a hike - If you aren’t too exhausted from your move, take a day trip to go on a hike or climb a mountain. Admittedly, some will find this a better form of torture then celebration, but I for one think it’s a good idea (I mean, I am the one writing this).

7.     Get a massage - For those that don’t appreciate the last suggestion, work your muscles in a different way by getting a massage. This is a great way to get rid of all that moving stress you’ve been building up.

8.     Board game night - Some people mind find this a little tacky, but playing a board game or two with your family can be a great way to unwind.

9.     Movie marathon - If you’re ready to just not think anymore, find a few mindless comedies to entertain yourself for the evening.

10. Sleep - For many, this will definitely be the most appealing option. Take an extra day off work just to sleep in and maybe read a book (apparently those are good for your brain).

Whatever you do, don’t watch The Money Pit, that Tom Hanks movie where his new house falls apart; it’ll just stress you out.
