Where in the world would you move to?

Last week, Alex discussed the ten best states to move to. This week, we’re going international by presenting the ten best countries to move to. While these are only ten of the 195 countries in the world, they each offer plenty of benefits for those who want to relocate. If you have the desire and means to move internationally, you might want to consider going to one of the nations on this list.

1. Canada - If you don’t mind the cold, our neighbor to the north is a great place to relocate to. As the country has a similar standard of living to that of the US, moving to Canada will probably cause the least amount of culture shock of all the countries on this list. You can also take advantage of its cosmopolitan cities (Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver) as well as its vast wilderness.

2. New Zealand - Playing the role of Middle Earth in the Lord of the Ring movies, New Zealand’s beautiful scenery is reason enough to attract expatriates. Also, its low population density (there are more sheep than people) means there is plenty of room for newcomers. If you needed another reason to move to New Zealand, the country is always ranked as one of the safest in the world.

3. Belize - This small country can be found be found bordering Mexico and Guatemala. In addition to its rapidly growing economy, Belize boasts plenty of undisturbed rain forests and world-class scuba diving. Aside from all that, it is the only country in Central America that has English as its official language.

4. Ireland - With its friendly people and welcoming nature (the country has one of the highest number of immigrants in Europe), Ireland is an ideal place to move to. The country is famous for its history and lush, green landscapes. Though Ireland isn’t immune to the global recession, many experts project that it will become one of the strongest European economies within a decade.

5. Andorra - This tiny country, found in the mountains between France and Spain, is perhaps one of the world’s best kept secrets. Despite its small size, Andorra has a strong economy and very low taxes. As if that weren’t reason enough to move there, the country also has the world’s highest life expectancy. (next page)

I would have to agree with this list — great countries included here. I have been to most of them (except Andorra).

Canada is a wonderful country and might be the place I would consider moving to if I left South Florida. Great post as always!

It was good to read about moving into these countries. I found your blog while searching for acts and regulations for moving to Canada. Although you have included Canada in your list i wanted to know about detailed rules. I had found very general information about acts for moving into other countries. Can you just tell me, where can i find authentic information about my search?

Hi Dee. For specific information, you can always check out Movers.com, moving.org, or protectyourmove.gov. Movers.com has a tremendous amount of moving information. The American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) has many great resources on moving.org, and the US Federal Government has great information on protectyourmove.gov. Be sure to check these sites, and whenever you search, look for multiple sources to verify any information. When in doubt, call and talk to a reputable mover to be 100% sure you have the right information. Good luck with your move to Canada!

Hi everyone. We have just initiated moving to Australia and I used a migration company. We looked at doing it ourselves but the uncertainty and the administration was too much. We were referred to a company called DNA Migration and they have also lined me up with some interviews when I get to Australia. Australia needs people so if you have skills that they need then you can do what we have done and all the family move through my skills. These guys worked for us and we are so excited to be moving to Australia.

  5. Singapore Movers says:

I like it when people list Singapore as one of the top 10 countries to move to. Actually, there is a local news that give a survey report about the new immigrants.

9 out of 10 are happy to live in Singapore. The top cited reason is: Security. We can literally go out and enjoy the night till 2am-3am and we are still safe to go home!

So if you want to move to a country that enjoys low crime, consider Singapore.

Moving to a new country is thrilling, but also challenging. Of course, it’s exciting to relocate to another place because of the unique society, landscapes, and community. It is fascinating to observe the many new things and take in the many new experiences you find in a new place.
