Warranty Elephant never forgets (your warranty info)

It happens to everyone - one of your appliances breaks, but you can’t find the warranty information for the product. Having lost or misplaced the receipt and not remembering when exactly you bought the product or long it was covered under warranty, you end up paying for repairs yourself. A new application, called Warranty Elephant, aims to solve this problem. After registering, you can provide all of your product warranty information into the company’s secure server. You will then receive e-mail alerts three months, one month, and one week prior to each product’s warranty expiration date. This way, you can make sure you have time to check your appliances for any issues while they are still under warranty.
After purchasing a new item, or digging up the warranties of your already-purchased items, you can sign in and enter the appropriate information. When adding a new item, you will have to enter the name of the manufacturer, the type of product, the date purchased, and length of the warranty. You can also add some optional information, such as the serial number, the warranty number, and a contact phone number. Additionally, you can even add a picture of the product and scans of the invoice and warranty.
Once you enter your items, you can access an easy-to-read chart detailing all of your warranties. Although you can check this chart anytime you want, you really don’t need to - the e-mail alerts are good enough.
When buying a new product, most people (myself included) will just shove the warranty in the back of a drawer or throw it in the garbage, without ever looking at it. When your appliance needs a repair, you will not know if it is still under warranty. You could end up paying a lot of money for something that would have been covered.
By taking just a couple of minutes to enter the information into your Warranty Elephant account, it doesn’t matter if you lose or discard the warranty. You will just get an email reminder well before the warranty expires.
Though the concept is pretty simple, Warranty Elephant is still a very clever idea. It is impossible to remember when the warranties of all your appliances will expire, and it may be even harder to keep track of where you place the warranty and receipts for your products. However, you can now depend on Warranty Elephant to remember this information for you.
