Now that you have purchased and transported your new mobile home, you can get ready to move in. While there are positive and negative aspects of moving into any house or apartment, mobile home living has a unique set of joys and challenges.

While one of the joys is sure to be the thrill of owning your own home, you might have some trouble making the most of your limited living space. Also, as a mobile home owner, you will have to know how to protect and maintain your home. Finally, if you live in a mobile home park, you must figure out how to adjust to life in these places.

Fitting everything in

When moving all of your belongings into a mobile home, don’t be surprised if you run out of space to put everything. Putting all of your large necessities (beds, couches, tables) into place should be your main priority. However, you might have difficulty finding places for all of your smaller items.

With limited cabinet space in the kitchen, you might not have room for all of your dishes, glasses, plastic containers, and food. By installing shelves, you will have more room to place all of these things. Shelves can also be installed in the living room and bedrooms to hold books and other objects. To make even more space in the bedroom, get bed risers and under-bed storage containers. Another good idea to add some space in your mobile home is to buy a couch with built-in storage under the seats.

As it is unlikely that your home will have a linen closet, you can purchase an over-the-toilet shelving unit to store towels. Another option is to place a hanging door rack for the inside of your bathroom. Also, there are several types of closet organizers to help you maximize space in even the smallest closet. (next page)
