When I first saw Romano’s Macaroni Grill Restaurant Favorites dinner kits at my local Stop and Shop, I wondered if they would be any good.  After all, I’d tried many other dinner kits and ready-to-eat meals that let me down.  Many of them either tasted horrendous or felt cheap.

The kits were on sale, so I purchased the Chicken Marsala one to try.  I also picked up a package of chicken breast cutlets to use for the recipe.

Assembling the dinner was simple enough.  I removed the fat from the chicken cutlets and cut off any blood vessels and tendons.  I then cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.  I followed the rest of the recipe as written, dredging the meat in the seasoned flour and and browning it in olive oil before adding the seasoning and cooking wine.  Meanwhile, I allowed the pasta water to boil and I prepared the linguine exactly as written.  Once ready to serve, I added a small dollop of butter to the sauce as detailed in the instructions.

The entire process took me about thirty minutes, which was not bad considering that I had to thoroughly clean the chicken before using it.  Plating the dinner was a cinch, and the extra sauce drizzled over the chicken pieces and pasta was a hit.  Everything was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful.  I noticed afterward that there are variations to the recipe printed on the side of the box so it could be transformed to fit your dietary or time needs.
